Thank you for coming to lead our service. Here are just a few words to give an idea of our usual pattern of services.
We have a morning service that starts at 10:15 am and usually lasts about 60-75 minutes. If the service is likely to last longer, then it is usual to let the Junior Church know in advance. The first part of the morning service is usually aimed towards the young people who leave to their Junior Church classes after approximately twenty minutes.
The first Sunday in the month is a Family service during which the young people stay in, however there is a crèche for the youngest children. Communion is shared at the third Sunday in the month. The preacher normally leads the communion and the deacons serve.
There is one evening service on the first Sunday of the month that includes communion, this starts at 6 pm again this lasts about an hour. At the last Sunday in the month there is a “Bring and Share” service. This starts with a shared tea at 5 pm, followed by a time of worship which can include testimony, meditation and personal stories.
To support the services we have the following groups.
The Music Group ~ Led by Simon Fielding.
We have an organ, clavinova, guitars, flute, violin and percussion instruments. Musicians are available for most services. We also have a variety of singing groups as well as soloists and duettists.
The Sound Group ~ Led by Craig Jeffers.
We have an amplification system with some radio microphones as well as static microphones. We record the services for those unable to come to worship with us. There is a loop aerial for people with a hearing aid and therefore we encourage all who speak to make use of the microphones.
The Video Group ~ Led by Alan Browne
During services we show the words of the songs, slides shows and videos on large TV screens. We have our own computers but visitors can easily connect their own to the video system. The computers mainly use Microsoft Office software and other applications are available. We video record most services and make DVDs when requested. There is also available a portable video projector, a laptop computer and a DVD player. Additional video cameras and an overhead projector are available on request.
